Last Thursday was a biggy for us creative sorts. We sent five very excited Denvirites along to The Caves in Edinburgh, to attend ‘The DRUM Scottish Creative Awards 2017’. Nominated in four categories, this was an amazing opportunity to put our work in front of a panel of industry experts, and see how it stacks up. It was also totally nerve-racking!
Whoever you are and whatever you do for a living, having the effort you put in each day recognised makes it all worthwhile. Even when you love your work as much as we do, nothing beats that ‘pat-on-the-back moment’ as motivation to go do it all over again, and to make it >GREAT every time.
Well, we’re delighted and proud to say, that last week, Denvir received three almighty thumps on the back…
What a haul!
One of the best parts of our job is getting to work with so many wonderful clients, on all kinds of projects. However, it turns out 2016/17 was unquestionably ‘The Year of the Fish’ for Denvir; netting two awards with Sutherlands of Portsoy, and the third with Sùlaire Fish Co. Here’s how:
“They killed fish.”

Sutherlands of Portsoy:
(Scottish Creative Awards Winner – Best Photography, Best Art Direction)
As a family owned business with five generations experience as purveyors of fine fish, we saw the uniqueness of Sutherlands, and brought it out to differentiate them from competitors in a very saturated market.
Taking a step back in time, we produced an old-world photoshoot; building a catalogue of professional photography that beautifully captures the unique brand story of their five generations of family business.
Each image conveyed quality, honesty, and heritage. The very things that make Sutherlands of Portsoy who they are, and have always been.

Sùlaire Fish Co. / Marine Products Scotland:
(Scottish Creative Awards Winner – Best Corporate Identity)
When Marine Products Scotland approached us to develop an identity for their commercial brand, the question was posed “How do you brand a fish company without using fish?”. To answer this, we delved into the company’s heritage in the Isle of Lewis.
Inspired by the nature we found, we placed the iconic Gannet at the heart of the brandmark. A frequent companion of fishing boats at sea around Lewis, the Gannet is every bit a fisher as those on board. We then took the identity further, using stunning images of rural Lewis, to convey the origin and values of the brand.
